It is a part of my daily routine to look for opportunities to perform random acts of kindness for people I know and love – and for people that I've yet to meet. In a world filled with hate, struggle and military conflicts, it is important for all human inhabitants of the planet we call earth, to get involved in the Peace movement. My involvement in the Global Peace Concert would give one more voice towards the ultimate goal of World Peace."

Angela Byrd, President
Angela Byrd
As a writer, lyricist, songwriter, copywriter, poet & member of ASCAP, Angela's work has been published, recorded & produced for television, radio, web & print.

Angela began writing in high school. Her first poem won a Scholastic Writing Award. Not only did she receive an honor for the poem, it was published in the local newspaper and posted at the State Museum for public view, receiving critical acclaim. But that was just the beginning of a writing career that would span genres, markets and accolades and pave the way for more doors to open in writing and music.

Angela's poetry, prose and lyrics have been published in many magazines, newspapers, periodicals and several poetry & lyrical compilation books. Currently, Angela is working on several books, one a collection of lyrics, poetry and prose.

Angela is owner of MoonRanch Music Publishing, United Souls Music multi-ethnic Booking & Promotion Company and Founder of Artists For Earth & Peace.

For the past fifteen years, Angela has volunteered, written or worked  with various organizations such as the Jake Gittlen Memorial Golf Tournament which benefits the Jake Gittlen Cancer Research Fund, The Peace Alliance, the Humane Society of the US, the Leukemia Society, AIDS awareness, the Alzheimer's Association, Bowl For Kids Sake, Cystic Fibrosis, the Alzheimer's Association, the Breast Cancer Coalition, the World Wildlife Fund, Human Rights Now, 46664 and Amnesty International.

Until September 2007 Angela worked for 14 years in broadcast media at abc affiliate abc27 WHTM-TV as the Programming Satellite Coordinator, Promotions Assistant & Floor Director. During her TV career Angela co-wrote jingles, co-wrote the newsletter, and helped write copy for commercials, promotions and community events. Angela also co-wrote a song & video that was produced exclusively for TV as the theme song for the Jake Gittlen Memorial Golf Tournament. "Because of You, A Brighter Day" has been submitted for EMMY nomination 2 years in a row.
Prior to TV, Angela worked in the music industry. Years of working with a local band led to her work with national & international artists first as a local crew member then as a touring crew member of the U2 ZooTV Outside Broadcast Tour. She also worked with artists such as Janet Jackson, Tim McGraw, Phil Collins, Luther Vandross, ZZ Top, The Spin Doctors & Travis Tritt.

Daughter of a published writer, author & journalist, it is only fitting that Angela would combine writing, music and media in her own career.

"Writing is in my blood, it's in my soul, it's what I know and what I do best. That's why I write everything! Lyrics, PSA's, jingles, press releases, copy for print, internet & media, poetry & prose, newsletters, articles, linear notes, vows, stories, books, letters, speeches, brochures, bios, website content, ideas, campaigns, promotions…you name it, I can write it".

Writing is fueled by her passion and love for music and doing her part to make a real difference. Angela's parents were writers, civil rights, equal rights, animal rights, human rights activists and teachers, both talented, classy, artistic and spiritual, both independent and loving with a love and appreciation for life, nature, music, art, travel and theater. They believed in helping others and fighting for a better world. They were inspired by and supported the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, John & Robert Kennedy, Ghandi, Edgar Cayce and other great historians, theologians, writers, musicians and leaders. "My parents taught me the value of life, the appreciation of each moment and the beauty of the world. They encouraged me to listen to my inner voice and instincts, to find inspiration and humor in every day and they instilled in me that anything is possible. They were open to the universe and all it had to offer. They taught me to have faith and believe. And they taught me to not be afraid to raise my voice. They often spoke for those who could not speak for themselves. I always say I am in hot pursuit of a Grammy but If I can do anything it would be to use my writing to inspire, to make a difference and to give back."

As President of Global Peace Concert Inc., Angela seems to be taking up where her parents left off in the fight for civil rights and the pursuit of peace and unity in the world.

Angela states, "I believe music can change the world one note, one lyric, one song, one voice at a time. I believe music is the universal language. I believe we can change the world through music. And I believe we have the power to make a difference. Together just imagine what we can do! As Ghandi said, we must be the change we want to see in the world. That's how I feel. Peace isn't only possible it's necessary. Feel it, Embrace it, Believe it!"

Lisa Roman, Secretary
Lisa Roman
Lisa states, “I can think of no higher purpose to work for than global peace, unity among all peoples, and human rights, especially at this time in our world. Having this opportunity to serve others in continuing the legacy of Dr. and Mrs. Martin Luther King fills me with awe. I only hope to serve others to make a difference, by helping people connect in a creative, fruitful and meaningful, way. It starts with you and me – we’re all called to a higher purpose right now and I believe each and every one of us is capable of furthering the Dream. As I say in “I Know What It’s Like,” “It’s been a long way traveling and we’ve got new ways to go...  And we’ve got our say at last.”

As a poet and songwriter, Lisa believes in the power of music and poetry to spread peace through love. Her song “One Spirit” sums up the beliefs that motivate and inspire her. Lisa believes that global peace begins within the individual, and individual by individual, we create peace with love, especially love for those we don’t know. Like in the song “Peace Train” from the songwriter who influenced her music, she believes we all have to do our part, no matter how small. She hopes to spread the awareness that by understanding differences with an open heart and mind, we learn to love instead of hate. She believes that bridging differences with love is something contagious.

As a child growing up midst, and from, farms and forest, the close connection with the natural world and animals ingrained a deep understanding of simple truths. Lisa is humbled to be blessed with a gift of profound compassion for the suffering of others. It is her firm belief that compassion is the first step on the road of peace. She believes peace is something that can and should be taught, and love, healing music and poetry are her vehicles. One of her songs sums it up... “And if you’re crying and you’ve lost hope, I will love you in the moment you say so – my hand is yours, and yours is mine/and if you meet me on the way, we will learn love today/your world is mine, and mine is yours...“ It is her hope that as individuals grow spiritually and connect, the groups and nations they are connected with will also have unlimited potential to grow.

Amy Haba, Treasurer

Amy grew up in Metro Detroit.  A native to Michigan, she loves water.  She grew up near Lake St. Clair, which is shared with Ontario, Canada and the Walpole Indian Reservation.
At a young age she could remember many summer days, driving over several bridges that cross the Clinton River which empties into Lake St. Clair.  The smell was nothing less then that of hot raw sewage.  The first time that smell ever overcame her, she asked, “Mom what is that smell?”  Her mother’s reply would linger even now, “It’s the river, Amy.”  Even then, a part of her knew she’d one day work to save it.  In later years this same river, would take away the lake she loved, the place her dad took her to see Haley’s Comet and for many family outings!  Many parts of this Michigan lake shore became forbidden from swimmers and fishermen alike. It was discovered, after twenty years that the state permit for operating the largest plant in a neighboring county, a two-mile long underground sewage storage basin had expired in 1978 and had never been renewed.  They were in serious violation of the Clean Water Laws, not including the one billion gallons of raw sewage that was dumped into our water.

Amy became a team member for the local Clean Water Action.  She, along with other team members would canvas neighborhoods in the surrounding areas.  They’d enter with the hope to create awareness about the issues with their local lakes and water ways.   In addition she learned that sometimes the unseen water could be far more contaminated.  During one normal canvas of a local neighborhood, she quickly learned of a landfill that was never properly capped.  In just a few streets she met three families who had a child fighting the same type of cancer.  They believed, as many did the landfill leaked into the ground water causing these diseases.

“Their soft little heads and big smiles were filled with such hope, while behind them their parents’ eyes welled with tears.  I still think of them and pray their hope prevailed.” She says, “It was the most eye-awakening moment in my young life.  I wanted to mend it all right then, all of it instantly!  I realized I couldn’t, and that is where most would give up, but you can’t. Even if you’re just buying an item that supports cancer research or a local environmental awareness – EVERYTHING counts.”
At 21, Amy gave birth to twin boys, 10 weeks early.  There she stood watching her babies fighting for life, while so many times we forget the value of taking a single breath. Amy, along with their father, Rich stood beside them all the while, afraid and begging for a miracle.  Too small to be held, they would whisper, “You can do this boys, you can do this!”  They knew the boys could hear them.  Ian tried so hard, but his tiny little body just couldn’t match his determination.  At five days old, Amy and Rick finally held his little body.

Today, ten and a half years later Dakota is the tallest boy in his class, plays football, loves nature, and his video games, and shows no signs of his early arrival.

In the 10 years since Ian and Dakota entered our world, Amy and Rich tried again and again to grow their family.  “Where I was once so angry, asking why me, why us?  I have turned it all around.  Knowing what we know now, it’s medically impossible Dakota is here.  Not a day goes by where I don’t just stand in awe of him.” She says with teary eyes.  They have also realized they were granted an unexpected gift during this long life lesson in grief and loss.  “After Ian there were so many times we felt completely alone.  Losing your child is not the natural course of nature.  Everyone was at a loss for words.  Those closest to us were experiencing their own grief as well.”  Amy finally found a website that completely reached her, and healed her and Rich in such a way, they found themselves reaching out to others, to heal them.
“This is what life should be about, reaching out to one-another.  No one should ever have to feel alone.  All it takes is a little more attention, asking yourself how would you feel?  What would you need?  Take out the garbage for your elderly neighbor in the winter.  Make a meal for a sick friend.  Just simply sit in silence, without comparison or hollow words, just sit and be with someone who needs to know even in the silence, they’re not alone.  All we have to do is just become more aware.  Imagine the difference.” She says with hopeful eyes.

Amy was brought up to love this planet and the people on it.  Whether it was spending time with her grandpa picking strawberries, or watching her mom tend to flowers her own mother planted.  Amy’s father cared so much about his children’s education he ran and was elected trustee of their school district, as well as being the President of his VVA Chapter.  His mother, Amy’s grandmother through-out her life has painted nature onto canvas.  In so many ways, she has been shown the true beauty this world has to offer.  Her artist soul was constantly cherished and encouraged to blossom by her entire family.
“It takes a village to raise a child or an entire family, and I am all the better for it!  I want this for my son, and my grandchildren.  I believe so deeply the belief of thinking ahead seven generations.  I will do my part to ensure the generations to come, can do more then just look at the water, or see the world through pictures.  They will be able to jump right in and feel the ebb and flow of this beautiful planet!”  She says with complete belief.

Amy grows all her own herbs.  Belonging to an unofficial group of neighbors and friends who share what they grow organically amongst each other and donate the rest.  She also is a big believer in environmentally safe products, especially after her son had an allergic reaction to a well known freshening agent.   She says, “After that experience and living along the river, I am very aware of what I use.  If it is not healthy for us and our environment, I won’t use it!”

Amy is in the process of creating a site that teaches each of us how to become more environmentally smart through the use of products, plants and foods we could easily incorporate into our everyday lives.
Currently Amy, her husband Rich, and their son Dakota live along the St. Joseph River in Indiana.  They share a 165 year old farm house with their “furry kids”,  Sammy (Samuel Adams), Sasha, Nemma, Padfoot, Yonva and Lily-Lu.  She says the land captured her and the home welcomed them.  She instantly knew they found a place that had always been cherished by the families who have called it home.  Living in the center of a large Amish community, they appreciate the reminder to slow down and nurture their surroundings.

When asked if any particular quote resonated with her, she recited:
"Whatever is material shape, past, future, present, subjective or objective, gross or subtle, mean or excellent, whether it is far or near — all material shape should be seen by perfect intuitive wisdom as it really is: "This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self." Whatever is feeling, whatever is perception, whatever are habitual tendencies, whatever is consciousness, past, future, present, subjective or objective, gross or subtle, mean or excellent, whether it is far or near — all should be seen by perfect intuitive wisdom as it really is: "This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self."

Zen Quotes by Buddha Gautama (born 563 B.C.)

“It reminds me to strive to always be better than I was; constant growth.”

John Baczynski, Director
John Baczynski

I fully committed to teaching peace and love, by living peace and love and opening my heart to the world around me. I have a passion for the things I choose to take on in my life, relationships, jobs, events, and life pathways. I believe this is much needed event and I also believe the time is now. I am in full support of this concert and the vision that is driving it.

What I want to bring, is my passion, enthusiasm, and authenticity in selling this as the concert event of a lifetime. In this day, right here and right now, what could be more important than “Peace”. My plan is to create interest in this event by selling myself and my own passion for it. To put myself out as “all in…100%” and to enroll and empower others to carry the torch that I’ve lit through bulletins on Myspace, and many Mankind Project listservs from all across the US including one in the Atlanta area, and one in the Carolina’s. (Charlotte and Charlestown areas mostly) I also want to create an avenue of increasing awareness of the need for a new peace movement through my own music and direct the energy that this creates towards the “Global Peace Concert." I am fully enrolled in the school of “healing through music’… and fully committed to carrying a torch for this event.

Kenneth Watson, Director
Ken Watson
" A life without cause, is a life without effect"
Ken Watson is one of those people whose life, like so many of ours, has been an adventurous journey.  Growing up in Detroit Michigan, Ken's journey has taken him from the Motorcity to Hawaii, Mexico to Canada, and visits to almost every state in the USA.  He currently resides just outside of St. Petersburg, Florida, where he works as a Safety Director and operates hyperbaric oxygen chambers for a wound care center. Before that, Ken spent almost 20 years working as a Paramedic in Detroit, Michigan, Key West, and Central Florida. He was also on medical teams for Joe Lewis Arena, Cobo Arena, and Hart Plaza in Detroit, as well as several special event details in both Michigan and Florida. Ken has had a lifelong commitment to helping the planet and those on it.
"When I was about 10, I used to volunteer with my dad at the local nursing home. I'd serve toast, coffee, and juice to the residents, and my father would show movies. I learned at a young age the spiritual and karmic rewards that come from helping others and enriching their lives."His career as a Paramedic has been a testament of his commitment to helping others, from delivering babies into this world, to caring for patients as they cross over from this life to the next.  Helicopter air evacuations, to underwater dive rescues, standing watch at a county fair first aid station, to standing watch over an ailing head of state during a peace summit. Ken has been fortunate enough to be blessed with a life in service to others.
Ken has also been blessed with the gift of music and a passion for entertaining. A member of ASCAP, he currently plays bass for the band Rescue 22 and writes music for TV/Film projects.  He is also an accomplished actor, having played the roles of Elvis, Bobby Darin, and most recently the roles in the musicals "HAIR" and "Assassins".  Ken also spent a few years as a producer/director for a weekly cable TV show, and has appeared on several different local and national TV shows. Ken won the State of Florida EMS Video of the Year award with his documentary about the experience of first responders during Hurricane Jeanne. Having worked both onstage, and behind the scenes, Ken looks forward to helping the leadership team make the Global Peace Concert an incredible success. "Music is one of the most powerful catalysts for change. Raising awareness about Global Peace plants the seeds of knowledge in those around us. Let us all be gardeners in this endeavor of love and compassion, pull away the vines that try to take hold of our spirit. The cocoon surrounds us as we transform ourselves and the world around us. Together, we'll reap the harvest, and take flight."
